OUR TREATMENTS

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. It involves the stimulation of specific acupoints in the body to correct imbalances in the flow of qi (pronounced chi) or ‘life energy’ flowing through the body’s meridians. While acupuncture is most commonly associated with the insertion of thin, solid needles into the skin, highly trained and skill practitioners also use other techniques such as moxibustion (heat) and cupping (suction caps on the skin).
Acupuncture offers a unique approach that focuses on optimising health as it does on treating illness. Acupuncture is one component of Chinese Medicine which also integrates Chinese Herbs, Lifestyle and Diet. Chinese Medicine is an effective, natural and increasingly popular choice of health care.

Facial Acupuncture
Facial acupuncture is a safe, natural and nontoxic way to rejuvenate your face without the use of botox, fillers or injections.
Over a series of treatments, each building on the previous, facial acupuncture reveals a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
How does facial acupuncture work?
One three levels – the skin level, muscle level and the organ/constitutional level.
Skin Level
Texture, colour and lustre of the skin are improved. Facial acupuncture increases the blood flow and Qi which carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells. Facial lines can be softened and collagen is increased.
Muscle Level
Muscle groups that are either over used or under used are treated with “motor points” to reset the muscle fibres. The muscle motor points relax and reset the muscles, smoothing your brown and opening your face for a more relaxed and refreshed look.
Organ/Constitutional Level
This is where your personal constitution is considered. The health of your internal organs plays a major part in how your face looks. Traditional Chinese Medicine will hone in on any imbalance weather inherited or due to lifestyle and guide you towards a harmonious solution which will be reflected in your face.
The Treatment
Facial acupuncture is a calming, relaxing experience. We combine facial techniques, massage, essential oils, jade roller therapy, body and facial acupuncture providing a beautiful and effective treatment.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is part of the holistic system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its branches include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese remedial massage, Chinese exercise therapy including tai chi and qi gong and lifestyle advice.
The origins of Chinese herbal medicine in China can be traced back at least 5000 years, making it one of the oldest and most long standing health care systems in the world.
Over time, Chinese medicine has developed and matured into what it is today – a natural and holistic system of primary health care, supported by scientific evidence, that is being used by people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds to effectively treat a wide range of chronic and acute health problems.
A qualified practitioner is able to prescribe a Chinese herbal formula that specifically matches and treats your individual health problem. As your condition changes and improves with treatment, the Chinese herbal treatment is also adjusted and modified until the desired health outcome is achieved.
Marney is a qualified practitioner and can help you to achieve improved health through Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a therapy commonly used in conjunction with acupuncture. It involves the use of dried leave of the mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) plant, commonly called moxa.
The slow smouldering nature of this herb, when compressed into cones or sticks, allows it to be placed on or near the skin surface. It is removed when it becomes hot.
The purpose of moxibustion is to stimulate the flow of Qi and remove blockages.

Cupping
Suction cups made of pyrex glass or plastic may also be used in an acupuncture treatment. The cups are applied using a suction method to soft tissue areas such as the back, shoulders and thighs.
Suctions cups are often used in treatment of many conditions. For example, cupping can be used in the treatment of colds and chest problems, sporting injuries, musculoskeletal problems and neurological disorders including back pain and sciatica.
